Nothing is as it Used to Be - Massaccesi | News & Announcements | See details & links below

Whomassccfoto7Just a quick mail to say there's lots of new updates at www.massaccesi.com. I've been working on the new sewing/animal project Stuffed & Covered as well as a new release, a handpainted and collaged + interactive photo project + CD(-r) about trash/waste and refugee camps called "Nothing is Ever As It Used to Be".

Very limited availablity, but availble in either handpainted or copied cover versions (the copied ones are more for trade/cheap price).  I am planning to tour again, West/East Europe for mid March - April - possibly May! It will be a big one, hopefully.. or at least very active. The theme for this tour and probably successive ones is creating as much of a total enviroment in a small space using various waste items from the area I am in. I will be creating a small community of myself, Chicken & Monkey, video, tents and "scenery" made up of things like plastic shopping bags, cardboard boxes, junk mailouts, dumpster items, items found at the site.. a virtual landscape that I interact with. The optimal idea is to spend 2-3 days in a place to set up an environment. So, please contact me, especially NOW if you are in: BeNeLux, France (Eastern), Switzerland (Western), Italy, Greece. But my schedule is very open so I could work out most anything, especially for later on (april/may).. hmmm..

SO, that's it, go check out stuff when you can at: www.massaccesi.com
e-mail is always: m@massaccesi.com, but if you are getting bounced by my server please try my "emergency" address: m_asscc@fastmail.fm

REVIEWS: Mum

Mum_yesterday Mum

Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today is OK

Morr Music

www.morrmusic.com

In the grand tradition of twee electronica from the likes of Looper comes the first record that Mum ever recorded – finally released six years after the fact. Alternating between the sweet and simple (“I’m 9 Today”) and the more grandiose (“The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records”), this record explores quiet places and the area in between sounds with precision and skill.  That said, what’s presented here is lacking only innovation. Though it’s a shame to see the band reach for anything less than the stars, one has to keep in mind that this was their very first effort.  The standout track “There is a Number of Small Things” is both charming and haunting, a song that showcases both the quiet beauty and full-force gusto that the band is capable of.  While the record now seems a bit underdeveloped, thinking of it in the context of when it was actually recorded puts it light years ahead of its time.
